Appearance & Grooming
The Samoyed is a medium-sized dog with a muscular neck. The breed has a thick double coat in white, biscuit, and cream. The Samoyed sheds seasonally and requires brushing three times per week when shedding.
Behavior & Disposition
The Samoyed is sociable, lively, stubborn, alert, and playful. They tend to play well with younger children. However, adult supervision is recommended when playing with puppies and other dogs.
Activity Level
The Samoyed has a high activity level, but it is still easy for the breed to become overweight. For optimal health, the Samoyed should be carefully monitored for calorie consumption and should have daily walks.
Training
The Samoyed is a very smart and sociable dog and can learn quickly. Positive reinforcement is an effective training method. Leaving this breed alone for a long time is not recommended due to their tendency to have a strong bond with their dog parent.
