The Bernese Mountain Dog is an extra-large dog with a muscular and balanced body shape. The breed has a dense double coat in white, black, and tan. The Bernese Mountain Dog sheds frequently and requires brushing three times per week.
Behavior & Disposition
The Bernese Mountain Dog is calm, intelligent, and faithful. They tend to play well with other dogs. However, adult supervision is recommended when playing with children.
Activity Level
The Bernese Mountain Dog has a high activity level, but they can become overweight. They need to be monitored for calorie consumption and weight.
Training
Because the Bernese Mountain Dog is a large breed, early socialization and obedience training are recommended. Strict training methods may not be ideal for this breed because they are easily emotionally offended. If left alone for long, they may misbehave.
